St Kilda Marina

The St Kilda Marina is an ideal place to moor or dry store your vessel. St Kilda was the first commercial marina built in Australia in 1969. Built from swap land by the famous Spooner family (see Caribbean Boats) the Marina has become a landmark for the cosmopolitan St Kilda skyline and surrounding tourist area.

Located only 400 meters from Luna Park and the Acland Street cafe and restaurant precinct. Your choices of boat storage are several; the atmosphere is relaxed and informal.

  • Wet Berth:

Your private, floating marina berth for your vessel. Secure locker, 240v electricity and fresh water ensures self sufficiency. Marina management and staff, encourages boat owners to use your vessel for weekend and overnight stays, to enjoy the wonderful restaurants within the Marina precinct and surrounding areas such as Acland Street. 24/7 access to your boat encourages increased usage and accessibility.

  • Dry Storage:

Undercover storage with unlimited fork-lift launch and retrieval  364 days a year (except Christmas Day) usually for the smaller vessels to approx. 21ft or circa 2,500kgs maximum. Access to shared electricity and water.

  • Hardstand:

Outside storage with unlimited fork-lift launch and retrieval 364 days a year (except Christmas Day), usually for larger vessels to approx. 26ft or circa 2,500kgs maximum.  Access to shared electricity and water.

  • Boat & Trailer Park:

The Marina is privately owned, therefore purchasing a berth outright or for a long term lease, is simply not possible. All boat storage and/or marina berthing are conducted on a strict 6 or 12 month rental basis only.

The Marina has a wonderful club atmosphere and centrally located within easy access to Port Phillip Bay, 10kms from CBD and has secure car parking, only metres from your boat.

Within the Marina precinct nestled amongst the boats and palm trees are several of Melbourne's coolest restaurants; Riva and The Great Provider. Both offer different levels of dining and ambiance, we suggest on a warm summer's night, there is no better place to dine.

In addition to fine eating the Marina boasts a friendly and relaxed boating community and marine trades, ready to cater for your every need.

Wash Bays (environmentally friendly)

St Kilda Marina has installed 2 x trailer boat wash bays, located on the western side of the Marina complex (behind the north & south storage buildings) and 1 x on-water located at the fuel dock - for the larger, non-trailerable vessels.

These purpose-built, wash bay locations, will use 100% rain-water collected into 5 x 30,000L water tanks from the roof of both the north and south undercover storage buildings. Desalination units that convert salt water into suitable water for wash down, are to be installed to supplement the rain water tanks. This will ensure members have ample water on hand during the dry times.

The marina is also currently testing water samples following the installation of a BORE to utelise underground water.

This new initiative is totally environmentally friendly and will enable all sizes of boats to be washed down by their owners - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Coin-operated high-power, pressure cleaning machines enables owners to wash their boats, clean covers in a totally environmentally friendly manner, regardless of the current stage of the water restrictions.

Both desalination and rain water collection are exempt from water restrictions and are regarded as "world's best practice" for marina environments, by the international marine association and governing bodies.

What a great initiative, so c'mon down and wash away...

St Kilda Marina Club

Several years ago, there was a business calling itself 'The St Marina Club' (SKMC).

This was registered business name to a private individual who was former marina boat owner. A tennant that was unhappy with their experience.

The individual is no longer a tennant of St Kilda Marina following a much publicised legal and verbal battle with marina management and other tennants of the complex. Sadly St Kilda Boat Sales and our Service Centre was dragged through the mud.

We're still here, say no more.
