1>     Our D.I.Y model

Simply put, you buy the standard factory finished, Reef Runner as a base boat. She includes all the standard factory fittings and fixtures such as: Fibreglass Hardtop, 225L underfloor fuel tank, Windscreen & Wipers, Open V-Berth, Anchor, Hydraulic Steering etc etc (see below for complete list ) a quality MacKay Tandem Road Trailer and a national 28 day towing permit and you ADD the rest....

You buy your own preferred brand of Outboard Engine (must read: our DIY Warning below), Electrical System, Marine Electronics, Covers, Accessories, Fishing Options, Safety Gear etc, etc. That way you can select your own preferred equipment that suits your budget and time frame...

2>    Our Base Packages

Using our Option-A-Boat service on our website, makes building your ideal boat simple..... Our free service is offered exclusively to all Caribbean Big Boat or Runabout buyers, giving you the ability to build an on-water package that suits your needs and budget.

By choosing exactly what your want from our comprehensive engine, options & accessories database, you can create your personalized quote in just minutes. Upon completion, a formal quote will be emailed to you. 

All options, accessories, fixtures and fittings selected by yourself for inclusion in your vessel, will be supplied and correctly installed by our team of qualified marine professionals, at our authorised Service Centre here at St Kilda Marina. D.I.Y WARNING


The fitting of engines(s), options, accessories, fixtures or fittings to your vessel must only be carried out by a suitably qualified and authorised, marine professional (i.e: mechanic, electrician and/or tradesperson). All non-dealer fitted items, may void the vessel manufacturer's specifications and product warranty. Do not fit or install anything on your vessel yourself (unless your qualified & authorised). Your safety and that of your occupants could be at risk. St Kilda Boat Sales Pty Ltd and the Caribbean vessel manufacturer; International Marine Pty Ltd will not be responsible for performance issues, warranty and/or liability claims whatsoever, arising when a purchaser chooses to buy a vessel without an engine professionally fitted by the selling dealer of the vessel, at the time of your vessel purchase. Therefore, when you buy a Caribbean vessel without engine(s) fitted at the time of purchase - you do so, at your own risk. Alternatively, our authorised Service Centre are delighted professionally install, set up and sea-trial your new Caribbean vessel with your preferred Outboard engine package. Garage and Storage Heights

For our standard trailer  (see below - Option 1)  

Garage Height:

2.830m - Ground to top of HardTop handrail (highest point)
3.060m - Ground to top of S/S Rocket Launcher, HardTop mounted (optional)

Note: Our garage measurements are supplied as a guide only and were taken on a trailer with medium tyre pressure.

If storage space or garage height is a problem, you have two choices;

1>  The Reef Runner can be factory built without the HardTop and supplied with removable canvas covers. Please call our office to discuss costs.

2>  As a viable alternative to home or private storage, why not consider dry stack or trailer park storage, here at St Kilda Marina. 

Besides, you won't have to face constant lenghty delays at public launching ramps. Here at St Kilda Marina, you can use the private members ramps 24-7, where there's plenty of car parking and very quiet!!

The Trailer height component, is based on our standard & recommended Trailer, suitable for this type of vessel as per our vessel packages.

Tow Weight

 

Based on information supplied by our component manufacturers, below are individual weights for your information.


Option 1:

Our standard MacKay Tandem Trailer (actual model PU57T-14-M)

** Suitable for all Mercury Outboard models:  EFI, OptiMax & Verado excluding specifically the Mercury 200hp Verado Outboard.

Hull Weight - 1,020kg
Trailer Tare (tow weight) - 520kg MacKay PU series
Engine Weight - 195kg - based on the: Mercury 175hp OptiMax (195kg) 
or Mercury 200hp EFI Outboard (196kg)
No allowance made for say - Battery, Anchor, Electronics, Covers etc

Total Tow Weight = 1,736kg's for 175hp OptiMax or 1,737kg for 200hp EFI.

The above figures represent DRY weight (i.e no fuel & no water) inclusive of the boat, engine & trailer package, as specifically advertised as our Drive Away packages only.

Option 2:

Our deluxe MacKay Tandem Trailer (actual model KR60T-13-DEX)

** Suitable for all Mercury Outboard models up-to 200hp:  EFI, OptiMax & Verado Outboard.

No problems in going to a larger size outboard as the Caribbean Reef Runner will take up-to 200hp. However in doing so, this will effect the overall tow-weight of the boat and trailer package. 

By exceeding a total tow weight of 2,000kg's, Vic Roads requires you by law (interstater's must check with your local state registration authority) to have a trailer with a hydraulic / electric break-away system installed, and built to a different load specification than that of our standard Reef Runner trailer offering.

For this purpose, we reccommend the following MacKay purpose-built trialer with a GVM rating of 2,600kg.

Suitable for all Mercury Outboard models up-to 200hp:  EFI, OptiMax & Verado Outboard.

Trailer Tare (tow weight) - 425kg MacKay AL series
Engine Weight - 195kg - based on the: Mercury 175hp OptiMax (195kg) 
or Mercury Verado 200hp Supercharged (294kg)
No allowance made for say - Battery, Anchor, Electronics, Covers etc

Total Tow Weight = 1,640kg with 175hp  OptiMax or 1,739kg with 200hp Verado Supercharged.

The above figures represent DRY weight (i.e no fuel & no water) inclusive of the boat, engine & trailer package only.


Vic Roads - No Permit Required (applies to all Reef Runner models)
 

Based on the above information, the towing of our packages (boat, engine & trailer) - can be undertaken without the need for a towing permit nor special conditions.

Please contact Vic Roads Ph: 13 1171, should you be planning to tow a weight greater than the figures shown above. You should always check your vehicle owner's handbook and your tow-bar compliance, to confirm your manufacturers, recommended tow-capacity and load requirements.

Failure to do so, may result in the cancellation of your vehicle and / or boat insurance policies.
