New marine safety laws in Victoria
For the past several years the Department of Transport has been modernising and strengthening Victoria’s marine safety laws. In 2010 the Marine Safety Act was introduced – the most significant reform in the regulation of recreational and commercial boating in 20 years.
In 2011 the department is working on details of this reform, which will be contained in the Marine Safety Regulations. At the same time we are looking at a number of options for marine licensing.
