Helicopter To Portsea

Having just hitched a ride in a private Helicopter from Docklands to Portsea, let us say - what a truly wonderful experience..... The 25 minute ride enabled us to collect one of our long-standing client's boats for her annual service back here at St Kilda Marina.

Pretty special huh!!!

The ride is actually only 8 mins to Portsea, but we detoured to go shark spotting around Mud Island. Earlier this week, they saw a school of about 40+ sharks feeding!

What a wonderful view we had of our Port Phillip Bay. So special was the experience  that we wanted to share the pictures with you!

The pictures were taken with Darren's iPhone from the front co-pilot seat of the chopper.

It's a pity about the weather, but who cares!

With strong SW 20 knot winds, we surfed the 2m swell home. Safe and dry in our Caribbean 27 Open (Runabout) - Custom. The on-water trip home took us about 2 hours.

Here she arrives, on time at 10am at the Docklands Helipad, floating on the Yarra River in Melbourne's CBD.

Andrew Rose one of our Directors, awaiting access to the Heliport.

How's this for an instrument panel! Notice the GPS in the centre. Just like in a boat....

Neil from Aussie Boat Covers and Andrew, looking very relaxed and feeling at home. Notice the headphones, the only way to talk and hear eachother.

We take off directly above the Marina YE at Yarra's Edge.  The boats look like toys.

The Albert Park Lake and the Formula One Circuit. Middle Park Beach in the foreground.

Here's our home at St Kilda Marina. Bruce the pilot "buzzed the marina" for us!!!

Our Service Centre in the left of centre.

Our Boat Sales office and The Great Provider Cafe, like we've never seen them before.

The Mud Island nature reserve in the middle of Port Phillip Bay.

Mud Island at high-tide, looking very healthy.

We've arrived at the house. Flight was way too short, but great fun.

This is what we came to collect, now to head home.

Very special thanks to you know who....
