Life Saving Victoria has embarked on a Boating Safety for Kids Program which will be available to all primary schools across Victoria during term 2 & 3 in 2008.
The 1-hour in school program empowers students to identify potential dangers in, and around inland and open waterways that effect recreational boating.
Participants will also learn how to enjoy recreational boating safely and learn lifesaving skills that could one day save a life.
During the session the participants will learn skills that include; Dangers in waterways, Checklists before boating, Trip Tags, Emergency Equipment, Use of Lifejackets (PFD’s), Emergency Response
Last year was the second year of the Boating Safety for Kids Program and over 10,000 grade 5 & 6 students from across the state participated in the program.
With Great teacher and student resources to accompany the program it is definitely a worthwhile investment for students boating and water safety.
Each participant in the program receives a Boating Safety for Kids Activity Book, Trip Tag (to put on the fridge), Recreational Boating Safety Handbook (Marine Safety – upon request)
